People Still Buy Music CDs at Shows

By John Kyle / September 6, 2018

People who connect with me and my music at my shows want to take ME and MY MUSIC home with them – and that means a collection of songs with pictures of me on it – a record!

Giving them a Bandcamp download code or telling them to check out my Soundcloud doesn’t cut it. People still want to buy CDs at my performances. I believe this would be true no matter what level I’m at. I’m playing very small venues and even street performing now. Until I find the right producer to work with and save funds, I won’t have a pro-quality record with radio-ready songs – but that doesn’t stop me from selling records (CDs.) I take my home-recorded demos and burn them to CDs in small batches (with DIY paper jackets!) People buy them! When I record a new song, I make new CDs.

Yeah, I’m bootstrapping now, but not for long :)

Hi, I'm John Kyle, an independent music artist finding my way on the Rock Star Path. I originally started this site to be another one of those marketing sites disguised as a music success blog. You know what I'm talking about. I've decided to cut the BS and give it to you straight. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing. I haven't figured out how to be a successful music artist, but I'm going to die trying. Hopefully my adventures and struggles will help you. Maybe you can help me. We're gonna make it.
